In my previous posts I went over a couple of controllers that could be used to control the attitude of a rocket in 2D. I am a bit burned out after writing 3 posts about it, so I am going to take a little break and delve into a chapter that sounds very interesting to me right now. At least it should keep me busy for the next couple of weeks or so. I am going to go over Chapter 8 of the book Introduction to Space Dynamics by William Tyrell Thomson. The title of the chapter is Performance and Optimization. Going over the chapter I see it is about how to properly plan a route to place a rocket into orbit. I will be reviewing the chapter as shown in the book with the following topics covered:
- Performance of a Single-Stage Rocket
- Optimization of Multistage Rockets
- Flight Trajectory Optimization
- Optimum Program for Propellant Utilization
- Gravity Turn
I will be posting all the code that I have come up with along with simulations and animations 🙂 of the work. I believe these topics should keep me busy for at least 2 weeks.
